Dom Richardson (The Upward Avalanche) is an Electronic Dance Music Producer and DJ specializing in the House Music genre; located in the twin city of Bristol, Tennessee/Virginia with a passion for music creativity and vision to promote the EDM scene within Bristol and surrounding areas. Dom has the gift for virtual creativity and his favorite way of expressing it is through EDM Production.
Dom Richardson was born on October 5, 1999 in Kingsport, Tennessee. He was raised with his two younger siblings in Bristol, a twin city that is located in both Tennessee and Virginia. Dom’s love for music began in the year of 2009 when he received “Guitar Hero: World Tour” from his grandparents and fell in love with the newly introduced genre of Classic Rock. A few years later in 2012, he was gifted a PlayStation Portable - on this device, he had access to a pre-installed music software where Dom stumbled upon a song called “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” by the then rising Dubstep artist, Skrillex. His curiosity of this specific genre and artist led him to the discovery of Electronic Dance Music (EDM). In 2014 through 2015, using simple music production software on his brother’s tablet, Dom created his first house music demo album called “2014-15 Demo Compilation of UA” and officially claimed himself as music producer and potential DJ called The Upward Avalanche. Dom has always carried the creative spirit within him, he enjoys almost anything involving building and creating on the computer – music production within the EDM genre being his most favorite of all creative endeavors, in which Dom took serious enough to make it his career and passion. On Halloween of 2016, Dom threw his 16th birthday/Halloween party in the basement of his dad’s house where he put his beginner DJing skills to use inevitably solidifying his DJ dreams for the future. Dom hadn’t DJed much since then due to his primary focus on polishing his creative talent for music production. Demo after demo, Dom decided that it’s finally time to put his skills to the test and release an official single – he decided to remake and put his best work and knowledge into a demo he released in July of 2019 called Livin’. Dom had stumbled across a vocalist by the name of Chantel Rey on Instagram who he finds worthy of singing for the Livin’ remake. The two worked very hard together for a full year to make sure the single had been created by the best of their ability and knowledge. The single with two parts was finally released on July 3rd of 2020. Dom plans on using everything he’s learned from creating the Livin’ single on many future projects as The Upward Avalanche, as well as having Chantel Rey be the vocalist of many more of his projects. Today, Dom continues to polish his production and DJ skills and plans to DJ again once the COVID-19 virus becomes much less of a threat.
